08.00 We left the hotel towards Sillustani
09.00 We arrived at SILLUSTANI.
SILLUSTANI was the most important Pre-Inca cemetery in Peru, between 600 and 800 years AD, it started by the Qollas but continued in the Inca Empire. It is located on a peninsula on the Umayo Lagoon, which enjoys a very unique atmosphere of tranquility and peace. more than 4000 people are considered buried in this place, with tunnels in their interiors that are still not valued, the most representative are the funerary towers called CHULLPAS, some of them are more than 12 meters high by 7 in diameter, which are not seen elsewhere. In 1973 a studies team from the University of San Marcos, found 503 pieces of gold that belonged to the ornaments of a lord of the Qollas.
We also visit some communities that live around the Chullpas that invite us to enter to their houses to share cooked potatoes with cheese, they show us their products, the way that how they weave and develop their textiles, the interior of their rooms and how they raise their animals.
12.00 We will share a traditional lunch in a family house in the community of Hatuncolla.
13.00 After enjoying the delicious lunch, we will go to Lampa
14.30 Lampa is the most preserved Colonial and Republican city in the altiplano, we visited the SANTIAGO APOSTOL Church that began its construction in 1675 and has the only copy of La Piedad made by Miguel Angel and authorized by the Vatican. It also has some catacombs, ossuaries and an exquisite proposal of baroque art in paintings and altarpieces, etc. We also visited Colonial Casonas and Museums. 16.00 After the guided tour, we will return to Puno
