Cusco Social Experience

Upon arrival, you are welcomed by your friendly and knowledgeable private guide who’ll be with you throughout your stay. From Cusco´s airport, we will drive into the Sacred Valley of the Incas, a tranquil oasis of cultural, historical, and agriculture richness. This day we will visit the Ccaccaccollo Community to discover a women’s weaving cooperative where we will see and feed the Andean camelids, such as the llamas and alpacas, and where the women will show us all the stages of the traditional weaving process: hand-spinning the wool, dying the wool using natural dyes, and participating in a weaving demonstration. Ccaccaccollo is a community that still have their traditional and ancestors’ customs, with an original heritage and form where you could have an amazing view of the mountains. We will then continue to the Inca and Colonial Pisac to discover one of the most beautiful archeological sites in the Sacred Valley located at the top of the mountain where you can have an amazing view of the colonial town of Pisac. Then, we will have a walking tour to the Colonial town where we will enjoy a delicious lunch. After visited Pisac, we will head to the impressive Inkariy Museum. Here we will take a guided tour of the museum to learn more about the numerous rooms where cultural representations of pre-Hispanic civilizations of ancient Peru are exhibited.

Our adventure continues exploring the less visited treasures of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. We will start in Maras, the famous and millenary salt mines from colonial times where we can contemplate its 3,000 wells of salt that were used in the Incas food until our days. The contrast of the white wells and the green valley is awesome and a must for a spectacular snapshot of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Then, we will visit Moray where the view is awesome due to the colossal concentric terraces simulating an amphitheater. The purpose of it: to recreate 20 different types of microclimates, a measure that guaranteed the agricultural production of the empire.

In this way, we will reach the community of Misminay where they will receive us in the middle of music and dance to take us to the small houses; they will be waiting for us with a delicious lunch.

Finished the meal, they will guide us towards the viewpoint of the Waninmarca mountain, from here we will obtain fabulous views of Moray and the Sacred Valley. Arrival at night, we will have a family dinner with a nocturnal fire full of stories and traditional legends.

We will wake up early to enjoy a nutritious breakfast with products and Andean cereals of the area and thus direct ourselves to carry out agricultural activities such as plowing or harvesting in the fields, but before this a payment will be made to the Pachamama and the Apus in gratitude for the food that give us. Later, we will learn a little about the elaboration of the adobe (mud brick) with the ancestral techniques. Later we be able to cook a delicious lunch based on products of the area, we will participate in the elaboration of the Pachamanca, a delicious and representative dish of the Andean region.
After delighting us with the exquisite dish prepared by the residents and carrying out the daily activities, in the afternoon we will be back to Urubamba and return to our hotel.

Before take the train to Machupicchu, we will visit Ollantaytambo, an attractive little village located at the western end of the Sacred Valley that has been built on top of original Inca foundations and is the best surviving example of Inca town planning. The town is divided in canchas (blocks), which are almost entirely intact. Each cancha has only one entrance (usually a huge stone doorway), which leads into a central courtyard. We will visit the Inca ruins situated on a hilltop landscape with surrounding terracing and with cyclopean rock carvings. From the hilltop there is an extraordinary view of the village below and the surrounding countryside.

Finished our tour we will take the train to Machupichu that ride last two hours down the Urubamba gorge, and it changes from mountain vegetation to cloud forest. Arrival at the station of Machupicchu Pueblo and a half an hour bus ride will bring you to the citadel for a guided visit which on average takes three hours as your official guide walks you through the different sector of the hill-top citadel, with astonishing views, telling you aspects of life here that will take you back in time. Lunch is included.

In the afternoon return to Machupicchu Pueblo where you will check into your hotel and use the evening to rest and relax.

Early departure from your hotel for your full day guided visit to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu which takes around 8 hours. Walking through the different sectors of the hill-top citadel and learning about different aspects of Inca life and history as you admire the mist cloaked mountains. Else, you may choose from a number of short hikes like the Sun Gate or The Inka Bridge.

After lunch, we may return to Machupicchu to continue enjoying this magnificent citadel and recharge ourselves with positive energies.

Upon concluding our excursion to Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu, we travel back to Cusco by Train until Ollantaytambo or Poroy station where our private vehicle will wait for us to transfer to your hotel.

Leave Cusco by private vehicle for a 40 minutes ride to Lake Piuray, close to Chinchero village, well known for its colorful market with traditional weaving and variety of handcrafts.
Arriving to the lake, we will have a safety briefing and get familiar with the kayaking and/or paddle boarding equipment and then start the activity across the lake for about two hours, enjoying the outstanding scenery of the surrounding hills with farm terraces and forests as great views of the Sacred Valley snow-capped mountains. After our kayaking or paddle boarding experience and a tasty Andean buffet lunch on the shore of the lake, we will have the afternoon free to enjoy at our relaxing shoreline area. Later we will head down to our Hotel in Cusco

We will get away from the crowds to visit Sacsayhuaman, an impressive fortress full of colossal structures surrounded by beautiful landscapes in complete communion with nature. We will then continue to the Inca shrine of Qenqo, with its awesome altar for sacrifices embedded in the side of the rock.
Finally, we will reach the Puca Pucara watchtower and Tambomachay, a monument of noticeable architectural excellence, considered one of the pillars of the Andean view of the world. Return to Cusco, and visit the main attractions around the Plaza de Armas: The Cathedral that is the most imposing monument in the Main Square with its magnificently carved woodwork, ornate altar and many hundreds of canvases from the 17th-century Cusco Painting School. The Inca Museum that has the best and complete resuming of our history. Finally, we will visit the Temple of the Sun (Koricancha) inside the Santo Domingo church that was the principal place for the worship to the sun god. At the end of the walk through the city, we will end at your hotel.
